Richard’s Pre-discussion info for Knowledge Illusion

Steven Sloman and Philip Fernback, The Knowledge Illusion: Why We Never Think Alone. Riverhead Books, 2017.

I chose the book for both parts of the title. People often overestimate their own knowledge and underestimate their debt to others. In a time where truth seems at the whim of whoever tweets the loudest, taking a step back into humility seems almost pleasant.

I wish to suggest a short video of my favorite physicist Richard Feynman to introduce how to think about knowledge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36GT2zI8lVA&t=3s

And the following article to supplement the idea about the influence of others: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/social-learners/201910/the-psychological-roots-political-polarization
